I was recently brought in to DP (Director of Photography) a series of short films with Director Sybil Steele and The Lane for Calleija. I didn’t know anything about it really except that it was fashion and jewelery based. No worries.
Then I get to shoot the films on Taylor Steele‘s new Red Epic. I’m scarred for life now. It’s so damn good. I foound out I was to shoot 3 short films filled with romance in three days, with multi-million dollar Calleija diamond jewellery and an Aston Martin! No worries. I could barely fit into the car. It’s not the bomber I can tell you.
The security guard was laughing at me, he couldn’t believe such a scruffy looking DP like myself was on this shoot, but we did have a common bond in how much food we could both consume. Lucky Taylor had a beard too so it diluted me bed-head. The shoot was at the Deux Belettes in Alstonville, a mind blowing place. It was like we were in France.
La Casa is a project where musicians stay at a house on the beach, get inspired, maybe write a song and it is all captured into a unique video. It’s been a lot of fun. Stay tuned to see creative wares from Art vs Science, Wolf & Cub, Delta Riggs and many more.
I also remember we had some amazing footage, and had gone through a few edits when Sybil found the song “July” by Trevor Powers, AKA Youth Lagoon. The song was haunting, dark and beautiful. That’s when L’Amant was really born. It’s now had over 46,000 hits on vimeo!
So when I heard Youth Lagoon was about to tour, I thought I’d better share the love.

On the last day of Nathan Myers digital workload in Australia, after putting up with my odour and constant blueberry grazing, he pulled me away for a quick couple of questions for Surfing Magazine…

I’ve been working on the final edit of Nathan Myers and Taylor Steele‘s next installment of INNERSECTION… and it’s gonna be epic!
We are into day 10 now, and just a couple adjustments to go until it’s released onto the world. A couple of my favorite sections so far are from Albee Layer, Tanner Gudauskas and Tonino Benson. But it’s up to you to deside!
INNERSECTION is an online video platform of visual submissions, by some of the best surfers and surf-filmmakers in the world.
The initiative is that of Taylor Steele and Nathan Myers and the winners of each round are decided by… YOU!
Good friend Dave Rastovich has put together a concept piece (which is very cool I will add), and decided to try his luck in competition. My other bearded mate Mick Waters (who made the clip) summed it up like this, ” We definitely threw ourselves into the frying pan with this one”.

I was lucky enough the film and edit this wonderful love story for The Lane with Director Sybil Steele and Executive Producer Karissa Fanning. The short film is called L’Amant and the track called ‘July‘ by Youth Lagoon. I got a soft spot for this clip so I hope you enjoy it.
